MTN Mobile Money Uganda Limited has launched the second term phase of its “Win School Fees for a Year and More” campaign in Masaka as the company seeks to expand digital school fees payments and ease the financial burden on parents and schools.
The campaign was officially launched during an activation event held in Nyendo, Masaka, on May 21, with several parents and guardians receiving school fees rewards after paying through MTN MoMo.
The initiative, now running for a third consecutive year, rewards parents and guardians who pay school fees using MTN MoMo, while schools that accept digital fee collections stand a chance to win a school van.
According to MTN MoMo, the first phase of the 2026 campaign saw multiple parents win school fees for a full year for their children, while Lucky Kids Academy received a school van through the promotion.
Speaking during the launch, Viola Namuyaba, Senior Manager for Payments and E-Commerce at MTN MoMo, said the campaign was designed to respond to the financial pressures parents face at the start of every school term while promoting digital payments.
“Parents and guardians are constantly balancing many responsibilities at the beginning of every school term. MTN MoMo is making that process easier by giving customers a safe, fast, and reliable way to pay school fees directly from wherever they are using the MoMo App or by dialing 16580#.
Through this campaign, families also stand a chance to win school fees for a full year, while schools accepting MoMo payments stand a chance to win a school van,” Namuyaba said.
She said the company had also introduced a back-to-school shopping promotion to help families manage school expenses during the term.
Under the arrangement, customers paying with the MoMo App or through 1653# can access discounts of up to 20 percent at selected supermarkets including Capital Shoppers, Fraine Supermarket, Quality Supermarket and Shop Wise.
Namuyaba said the promotion forms part of MTN’s broader “The Power of MoMo” campaign aimed at offering practical financial solutions for everyday needs.
Parents and guardians can pay school fees using the MTN MoMo App or by dialing 16580#. The platform also offers school fees loans intended to help families manage education expenses for up to four children during the school term.
MTN MoMo encouraged schools and bursars to adopt its school fees collection platform, saying the system offers safer cashless collections, easier reconciliation of payments and eligibility to participate in the school van rewards campaign.
The company said the initiative is intended to strengthen its role in supporting education by helping families keep children in school while enabling schools to adopt secure and efficient payment systems.
